10 Unconventional Tips To Elevate Your Client Experience

Are you as sick of hearing about Silicon Valley Bank and Credit Suisse as I am? Okay, yes.. I geek out on this stuff so maybe you are a bit more ill over it than I am. Either way, I wanted to lighten up the weekend by thinking of 10 unconventional (and maybe even a little silly) ways to make the home buying or selling process as enjoyable as possible. Because who couldn’t use a tiny bit fun in a market like this?

Even if this list gives you one new creative idea or has you thinking about something not even on the list.. then game on…

  1. Bring a llama to your open house. Okay, so maybe inside Denver city limits this might be tough, but who doesn’t love llamas? In Evergreen, Conifer, and Strasburg, we think they are the cats meow and certain to leave a lasting impression at an open house. Plus, llamas are great at keeping the grass trimmed!
  2. Host a scavenger hunt. Have they put in and won the offer on a new home? Help them get to know the neighborhood, getting excited for this new leg in their journey. Give your clients a list of things and places to find surrounding their new home.. even before they move in. This is a great way to keep clients engaged and excited throughout the home buying process.
  3. Send personalized gifts. Gifts aren’t just for closing anymore. What about surprising your clients with a unique or personalized gift at one of the random milestones, like appraisal in or loan approval or even getting under contract. Just showing them you’re thinking of them. Whether it’s a basket of local treats or a gift card to their favorite restaurant, this small gesture can go a long way in making them feel valued. Another tip…you don’t have to put your name or brand on the gift. They’ll know.
  4. Create a custom tour. Instead of showing your clients a list of homes, create a custom tour that’s tailored to their specific needs and wants. Maybe they are chefs or gardeners. Can you create their first tour be one that shows you’re invested in their unique situation and want to make the process as easy as possible?
  5. Offer free moving services. Moving can be a hassle, so why not offer your clients free moving services from a company that packs them, moves them and unpacks them? Talk about a game changer and making your clients feel like you truly care about their stress level.
  6. Host a community event. Bring your clients together by hosting a community event. Post pandemic, people love getting out and seeing other people. Maybe it’s a block party, holiday event or a beer/wine tasting. This can be a great way to introduce them to their new neighborhood and help them feel more at home.
  7. Create a personalized video. Instead of sending a generic email or text, create a personalized video message for your clients. Here’s where you can shine and be fully YOU. Not only does it show you are invested in their success but builds on the relationship you already have.
  8. Offer a home staging service. This is kind of a given these days, but maybe you’re not doing it yet. Help your clients prepare their home for sale by offering a home staging service. You know what Megan and I say all the time… a home that is priced right and staged well is moving fast!
  9. Create a custom housewarming gift basket for your buyers, filled with local goodies and personalized touches. This can include everything from local coffee and chocolates to a personalized welcome mat. I was just at a Project I See You event where they shared the “Breaking Bread” basket they give to all new homeowners. AMAZING!
  10. Go gugu over the pets. For buyers, create a pet-friendly guide that includes information on local dog parks, pet stores, and other pet-friendly businesses around their new home. For your sellers, give them a “spa day”, complete with grooming, massages, and even a photo shoot. Could come in handy on a long day of showings where they have to be out of the home.

A personalized experience can help differentiate you from other real estate agents in a crowded and competitive market. And making it funny or unique, well that can make it memorable for years. Need a lender to come along side you for more creative ideas..
